Armenia Inaugurates First Iran-Funded Wind Power Station

Yerevan, 6 December: Armenia's first wind power station put into operation today. Armenian Energy Minister Armen Movsisyan told a ceremony to open the station. The station has been built using the Iranian government's grant worth 3.5m dollars.

[...]. It consists of four wind motors which generate power with a wind blowing at three to 25 metres a second and has an estimated capacity of 660 kilowatts with a wind blowing at 13 metres a second.

The Iranian company Sanir was the general contractor of the construction and supplied the station with German equipment. The station's operational capacity is estimated to be 20 years.

Iranian Energy Minister Parviz Fattah, who also joined the opening ceremony, said that Iran is ready to provide further assistance to Armenia in the energy sector, especially in the development of wind power generation.
