BUILDING OF ARMENIAN EMBASSY IN “HERITAGE LIST” OF OTTAWA

The city council of Ottawa has recently issued a unanimous decision to include the building of the Armenian embassy in Canada in the “List of Heritage” in Ottawa. This list includes high value buildings in terms of history and architecture of the Canadian capital.
Armenian foreign ministry press services report that from now on the building of Armenian embassy will be mentioned in tourist guides of Ottawa and will have an opportunity to organize Open Doors days for foreign and Canadian tourists. It will greatly enlarge the opportunities to evoke interest towards Armenia in Canada.
Today is 100th anniversary of the construction of Armenian embassy’s building in Ottawa. The facade of the building is the work of Canadian renowned architect Verner Nofkey (1878-0964) and is in the style of Spanish colonialism, which is very rare in Canada.
