Armenian capital Yerevan named a sister city to Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES Los Angeles has another sister city.

Today the City Council gave the Armenian capital of Yerevan the distinction that 21 other cities share.

Yerevan, located in eastern Armenia, was founded in 782 B-C and has a population of one-point-two (m) million people.

In recognizing the designation, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Los Angeles is home to the largest Armenian population outside of Armenia.

Los Angeles has sister cities on six different continents. They include Berlin, Germany; Aukland, New Zealand; Jakarta, Indonesia and Mumbay, India.
