AeA Announces Timothy Jemal New Executive Director of the Orange County Council

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2005--AeA, the nation's largest trade association representing all segments of the high-tech industry, announced today the appointment of Timothy Jemal to serve as executive director of the Orange County Council. Chartered with strengthening the bond between high-tech companies in Orange County, Jemal will focus on growing the membership base of AeA with a wide range of programs and services that meet the business needs of Orange County technology companies. Improving access to capital, increasing revenue, providing strategic networking opportunities and uniting technology companies politically are among the key priorities for the Orange County Council.

Prior to joining AeA, Jemal directed a unique statewide California nonprofit coalition of long-term care health systems, leading seniors and community-based organizations and the state's largest health care union. The work of the coalition resulted in Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signing into law historic, bipartisan long-term care reform legislation which will generate over $1 billion in federal Medicaid dollars for the state to fund desperately needed improvements in nursing home care.

Prior to moving to California in 2001, Jemal worked in Washington, D.C., for Siemens Corp., a national construction trade association and the Armenian Assembly, a national nonprofit organization. At the Armenian Assembly, Jemal directed national public affairs and grassroots political programs. These programs led to the enactment into law of legislation appropriating over $1 billion in U.S. economic and democracy-building assistance for the Republic of Armenia and Eastern Europe as well as prohibiting U.S. foreign assistance to any country that blocks the delivery of U.S. humanitarian assistance to another country.

In 1998, Jemal established and served as president of Silk Road Investments Inc., an international business development company which launched one of the first Voice over the Internet Protocol (VoIP) businesses in the former Soviet Union.
